Annnnnnnnnd....WE'RE BACK!

It's about time for my semi-annaul update. So here are the hap happenings with Mr. and Mrs. B:

On the job front - Mr. B's contract ended with BYUtv. Because they knew he was looking for another position and would most likely not be around this fall, they decided not to renew his contract, but instead contract someone else for the position. Mr B. was just fine with this because, as I said, he was already looking elsewhere. Problem...he hasn't found the elsewhere yet. We are being patient, and Mr. B. is making valiant efforts to remain positive. We shall see what adventures are in store! His dream is to work for a national broadcasting network, which, if happens, would mean we could virtually live anywhere we'd like as long as he has easy access to an airport. A step on the path to achieving that dream may be that he starts at a more regional or local station. If this is the case, we would have to relocate to said region or city. At this point I believe we're willing to take on just about anything!

My job situation has changed a bit too. I went from having a big ol', mean boss last year, to boss being demoted to co-worker, to co-worker getting a different boss, to (as of last month) moving offices so I'm not even on the same floor with co-worker! Yippee! We occasionally see each other, but I can handle occasionally. My job title has also changed. I am not only the ASL Interpretation Supervisor, but now I am also a Language Producer. Also yippee! My job no longer sends me home in tears, but has actually become quite enjoyable.

On the home front - Mr. B. is doing an awesome job keeping the house together while hunting for employment. One goal I tasked him with helping me achieve is regular exercise--something I've been without for some time. He insists on taking me to our local pool regularly to give me swimming lessons and help me exercise. I'm not real great at the swimming thing yet, but I appreciate his patience and diligence. Another activity that has been keeping me busy is photography evening classes! Hopefully more to come on that soon.

On the church front - My calling (12-14 year old young woman advisor) has also eased up a bit. It was a stress and a strain for awhile, but now that others have figured out their roles, it has become a pleasure to serve. Mr. B. is still quite popular in his role working with the 16-18 year old boys.

On the family front - My brother got home from his mission!! It's been wonderful to have him home. My younger sister has been working on her papers, but just found out she may not be able to serve unless she can get her iron levels up. She's been quite heartbroken, but I'm sure things will work out for the best.

That should cover it! See ya in six more months?... ;)

The Skinny

Requests have been POURING in (two) for an update on my life blog.

I knew this would happen. The moment I made this blog public I lost the desire to write on it. I have this weird thing about keeping my life private. Or at least controlling who is or is not privy to my every move. In a world saturated with posts, tweets, and instagrams, I am content to eat my breakfast without telling the www.com what cereal I chose.

Now, having said that, I read updates by many who do chose to post such things. So please, while I do not, do. Continue to post said content--I need something to distract me at work.

For the two people out there who requested an update (thanks Rachelle and Meagen!), I shall brave the intranets for you.

Life is pretty good. Not much to update to be honest.

Mr. B is still keeping the BYU fans up to date on all the what's what with Cougar Sports. He's enjoying it very much, but may be looking elsewhere in the (near???) future.

I'm still working as the American Sign Language Supervisor at LDS Church Headquarters. Work has greatly improved over the past 6 months, and I even like my job most days. Really, that's HUGE. After a year and a half of tears, headaches, and nausea because of coworkers, "like" is a pretty strong word. I have a lot of projects on my plate right now--mainly April General Conference. I've also prepped interpretation for regional broadcasts to TX, OK, and NM; N Cali; a family history conference; and the Sterling Scholar semi finals. It's been a busy week, but also a satisfying one.

AND I had the opportunity to attend a meeting that was........ wait for it....... FOUR hours long yesterday where I was instructed on how to better communicate and interact with my team and our managers and directors based on the "colors" of our personalities. Interesting. For those of you who are familiar with the color system and know me, what do you think my color percentages are for my personality?

Recently I've also really pushed my photography skills. I'm not getting much better because I don't have any willing subjects to let me practice with (if you're interested let me know!!!), but I've been attending regular workshops and have really enjoyed learning.

And in spite of the fact that Mr. B and I hardly see each other as it is, I may be taking on another job just in my "spare" time of managing a website. We'll see how that goes. And, as always, still trying so hard to help my mom get her lotion business up and running.

Well, there's the skinny, the scoop, the 411. That's all folks!

I keep thinking Mr. B will finally walk through the door from work, but it's 11:30pm and still not even a word saying he's on his way. I may be giving up on seeing him on this Valentine's evening.

Looks like I must resort to sweet dreams to see my man. Off to bed for me! That alarm comes awful early...

Happy Valentine's Day Ya'll!

Living Your Dreams

From time to time Mr. B and I will pull out the box of conversation questions he gave me while we were dating. This time he wanted to play with a twist. In the past we'd always sat in bed and asked each other the questions back and forth late into the evening, but this time we were to ask the question, wait for the other person to think of their answer, and then guess what the other's answer would be. It was very insightful to say the least. :) I learned a lot about how Mr. B saw me, but I also learned a lot about myself that evening.

Several of the questions focused on my goals for the future--a subject I have little clarity on at the moment. Mr. B nailed one of the answers I thought he'd never get. He knew at heart I want to be a photographer. And after years of looking up photography classes, and even registering and canceling multiple times, he simply said, "do it." The next day I signed up for a class. IT. WAS. AWESOME.

See the close background?

Now see how the background is far away?
Yeah, I did that.

I'm still not sure I have all the answers for my future and career yet, but photography is definitely an option. Thanks for the support Mr. B.

Celebrating "Labor" on Labor Day Weekend?

It's a good thing I haven't kept a very good blog over the past year, cause I'm sure more than half of the venting posts would have been directed straight toward my job, or more specifically my boss.

And no body wants to hear that. (**If you thought "Nope, sure don't," stop reading now. :)

But last night, after a nice Labor Day weekend, I cried myself to sleep because I knew I'd have to go back to work the next day. (Pathetic, I know.) And those tears only led to bad dreams about work all night.

Because I work for the LDS church and have a pretty cool job (by some people's standards), whenever anyone asks how I like what I do I always put on a face and "love it."

NOT TRUE.

There you have it. I've turned this post into a confession post.

On paper my job is great. Working with my used-to-be-boss-but-is-now-my-"team lead"-whatever-that-means?!-she-totally-thinks-she-controls-me... not as great as it looks on paper.

Ok. I guess it's not the job, just the boss. I like what I do, just not who I do it with.

I talk about quitting all the time, but I won't cause I'm addicted to my paycheck.

UGH. (the very non-silent kind.)

In addition to threats about quitting (mostly to myself and sometimes to my husband), I also laugh at the power I have to set a very firm 9-month quitting deadline...

Yeah, no. Not right now. But I SO could.

Pregnancy = escape from one job + oh yeah, new job as Mom.

...Yeah, no. Not right now.

Someone please rescue me with a million dollars so I can have my freedom back!! Think of it as paying my ransom and saving a life. PuLEEEEEz!

No? Guess I'll have to work tomorrow. At least Thursday is payday.

My Favorite Time of the Year

I LOVE autumn!!

After record heat this summer, September 1st is finally here! And it feels amazing outside.

I couldn't help myself but take a morning bike ride around the neighborhoods. Mr. B settled in on the couch to watch Game Day, and the crisp, fresh air beckoned me outside.

It was almost cold enough for a jacket, but I loved the chilled feeling of the rushing wind on my face.

I hope this beautiful weather hangs around for awhile.

#Iwantmyhusbandback

I hate Twitter.

I hate how my husband is obsessed with his phone because of it.

I hate how his obsession has increased now that it's football season.
